This was a common issue with older conservatories, but it’s not so much of a problem anymore. Thanks to modern construction techniques and improvements in insulation, our conservatories benefit from impressive energy efficiency and it’s far easier to get a comfortable temperature.

It is unlikely. Conservatories usually fall under the definition of a ‘permitted development’ and don’t require official approval. However, there can be exceptions; if you live in a listed building or conservation area, or if your new conservatory is likely to block a neighbour’s view, you may need to get planning permission. If in doubt, we’d always recommend checking. 

Not quite, the two are similar and share a lot of features. They’re both extensions which feature a lot of glass and to the untrained eye can easily be mistaken for one another. The difference is that orangeries tend to primarily be brick structures with lots of windows, whereas conservatories feature more glass and less brick. 

It depends on the precise nature of your conservatory, but on average, completing a conservatory project takes about eight to twelve weeks. As you can expect, a more complex conservatory will require more time to build, but regardless of the timeframe, we’ll make it as stress-free as possible and aim to cause as little disruption to your everyday life as we can.

We don’t often see snow in Southampton and Hampshire, but yes, your new conservatory will be sturdy enough to handle the weight of a heavy snowfall. We build them to the strictest standards and they have more than enough structural support to handle heavy winters.
